It doesn't really matter. If either breaks you need to replace the slug.
Frozen or broken - either way it's junk. Breaking them is how I remove
broken / stuck slugs. I use a small jewler's type screwdriver and carefuly
pry and break off little pieces of the slug until it falls out as a pile of
powder on the bench. I then dig in the junk box and find a replacement. I
twist it back in with a bit of bar soap rubbed on the slug as a lubricant.
(The small hotel soaps work especially well. Don't us your wife's good
dove!!!!) This process has worked well for me. Any other suggestions?
