Thanks for the info.

There is a possibility of desensing.  There was a little garbling of the remaining weak signal that leads me to suspect this.  The other symptom is historical.  The Rx signal went bad for about three weeks continuously and then fixed itself. 

With your information I will discount the relay possibility for now and simply wait to see if the problem returns.

I'd sooner think that the interconnecting cable between the T/R relay and RX
input may have become questionable. The connections are simple RCA
plugs/jacks and may have become corroded over time. Could also be the RCA
connector going to the I.F stage.

Don't rule out a nearby transmitter desensing the MVP.
