Guys,

I didn't mean to start a big debate here....I just want to buy a repeater!

But since it's been brought up and I've received NUMEROUS off-list replies
letting me know "the rules", please let me clarify a couple of things.

1. When I said high power, I just wanted to weed out the 10-25 watt models.
I'm aware of the legal power limits of GMRS as well as those for our
licensed business freqs. I thought that those offering to sell units would
be able to deduce by my usage description what I was looking for.
2. I never said the business was using GMRS. We donate repeater time to our
local neighborhood assoc. blockwatch after hours and allow them to use GMRS
on the weekends for special events and family use. Yes, those who are using
it are licensed for the most part...I know because I helped them apply for
and get their licenses. There may be a few sneaking through; I can't police
them and don't intend to if they use it properly.
3. "We" the business are NOT licensed on GMRS nor do "We" use it.
"I" am however licensed on GMRS and have read FCC Part 95 as to the rules.
Why does everyone assume they are the only one's who know the rules?
4. Who suggested phonepatch or any other improper use of GMRS?
Again, I simply wanted to know of anyone who had a repeater they wanted to
sell.

Please if you have a suitable unit available, contact me OFFLIST:

Tim
