If it's built like my old Model 70 the attenuator physically moves as you
twist the dial. Check the coax around the attenuator - a known failure
mode is that the coax fails internally sooner or later. And use HIGH
quality double shielded.coax to replace it... the second shield will
lower the leakage some over the original stuff. I forget if it's the size of
RG-174 or RG-58... if it's the 58 size use RG-400
