Pretty sure the R2 was when they took 2, 678's roughly 2 to 2.5 mc apart and ran them on a common antenna. On each duplexer, tune pass normal, and tune reject on one cavity for it's own TX or RX, and the second cavity to reject the second TX or RX. This way you can run 2 repeaters on one antenna with very little trouble.
