Dave, Last year I bought a set of Toyo tires for my Chrysler Concorde and had very bad static on the low end of the AM dial. Toyo said they never heard of this before ...(Not surprising)....
The static was similar to an old spark-gap transmitter running......there is one of those in the Hammond Museum of radio here in Guelph Ont. After a week I went back to the dealer where I purchased them and we put on a set of used Goodyear tires from another car that were exactly the same as I took off, for the replacement tires. NO STATIC ! My brother who is the service manager thought I was "Nuts" so he went for a ride with me (Before and after) the installation of the Goodyear tires to hear it for himself. The noise on the radio with Toyo tires varied from very bad to almost none at all depending on what type of pavement I was driving on. On gravel roads there was no noise at all with the Toyo tires. The dealer took back my Toyo tires and gave me a full refund. I installed a new set of Goodyear Eagle GA's and there is no noise at all on the AM radio from them. !!!!! 73 John VE3AMZ Waterloo, Ontario ----- Original Message ----- From: "na6df" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, November 17, 2004 4:11 PM Subject: [Repeater-Builder] radial tire static? | | | Not repeater related so much, but I thought the great minds here | might know... | | One of my corporate bosses, a ham, is having his bridgestone tires | generate static while they are rolling, interfering with AM radio | reception.
