I gave away a full set a while back...

Modulated Vibrator Hash ?
Ken Sessions, who preferred "Mister Virgo Himself", as
stated in his column in 73 magazine.
He dropped out of sight completely in about 1980-83...
His call sign lives on as the LARA club call.

San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles....
and some of the Seven-Sixers are still around, which
is why there is still a 146.76 to 16 repeater there.... seven six
simplex lives...
Here's one, what was K6CHRs phonetics?

Try and find "it started in chocaga" or "chronicles of seven-six" on Google...

If anyone has them as text files, I'll put them up on repeater builder.

Mike WA6ILQ...
not quite an OF, but I was around then (as a teenager) and
was listening to 2m... on a five-tube-AC-DC AM receiver
that I converted to 2m by adding a nuvistor crystal oscillator.
I hand ground crystals for 145.30, 146.76, 146.82 and 146.94
using plate glass (left over louvered window panes) and Ajax
cleanser.

Out in the garage workshop I had a Link (brand) RX on 146.70
and also a Hallicrafters SX-28 either of which could feed a
teletype machine (Southern Pacific Railroad surplus).

Later on Will and Neil helped me convert some A-strips for a
mobile (the strips went into a base station later on) when I got
a Motrac for a mobile. When I moved the Motrac from a 1957
Buick to a 1971 Ford Falcon wagon I rebuilt the Motrac to
8-freqs (along with converting the Falcon from a straight 6 to
a 302 V8 and adding front disk brakes - essentially the
Mustang conversion kit).

The teletype machine got me in trouble with my high school
civics teacher... I printed out the news reports from Radio
Moscow, the BBC, Deutche Welle, Radio Tokyo, and VOA
and took them in to school.
She'd be talking about specific world events and the next day
I'd have 3 feet of news copy from each of four points of view
on the same topics, most of which disagreed with her opinion.

I still got an "A"... the principal overrode her "C-" because the
stated point of the class was to make you think about world
events. I pointed out to the principal that if you had more than
one information source (something she didn't bother with even
when I offered them to her) then you would not form the same
opinions as the teacher did. And if repeating her opinions back
to her was worth an A and having other opinions was worth a
C- then that should be stated along with the class purposes.
