Hi Mathew,
Not a problem really...
Present the same type of audio to the voter inputs,
that would be all de-emph, or none de-emph with the
same choice regarding the sub tone (ctcss or pl).
You could mix things, but the system operation will
be very quirky.
(Some of you guys... don't give me a bad time
about running sub tone through the voter. It
(the voter) doesn't really care or change the
actual voting value).
The RVS-8 is an HF noise voter, so you'd wire in
all the links and master receiver and set them up
for best path conditions.
The RVS-8 has a "real crappy manual" (which is
being very nicely put), but you simply set the RVS-8
noise rectifier/cal pots in the RVS-8 to respond to
each rx input signal - hf noise value using a service
monitor (after setting all the system level pots).
Setting the remote receiver values will probably
require two people and some time at each end of
a path.
You will also note the RVS-8 displayed "Signal to
Noise" number value will change quite a bit with
test tone audio compared to no audio. Spend some time
working with the no audio/test audio and signal
strength values to obtain a desired dynamic number
within the RVS-8 range.
Sure, there might be slightly different sounding
audio paths, but the better quality signal should
always vote.
It's nice to have same type receivers and paths,
but they are not required. You can equalize audio
if you like, but it's not required unless you
object to the resultant audio heard.
The Master Pro ER series receiver is one hell of a
well designed circuit. You can take audio in a number
of places, probably the volume control pot, depending
on/if you have the on-board or external sub tone
decoder (underneath side pc board with the red
tone network).
If you outboard the receiver from the orginal EP-38
base/repeater deck, be sure to observe and respect
the 10 and 12 volt dc power requirements on different
pins. Don't over voltage the receiver 10 volt
requirement.
