I used to have an editor called "Cool Edit" by Syntrillium
(I think that's how they spelled it) - originally a piece of
crippled shareware that I had paid the fee for and got an
unlock program.... A couple of years ago I had a drive
crash and when I reinstalled the software I found that the
unlocker would no longer work. By that time Cool Edit
had been bought by Adobe and renamed "Audition".
My needs had changed and it wasn't that important, so
I didn't follow up on it. Now I need to edit a few files and
really don't want to pay for it again (on general principles,
plus Adobe wants $170 and I'm currently unemployed
and living on savings while I job hunt).

Anybody know of an equivalent piece of software that
runs under 98, 2000 or XP ? I'm teaching myself Linux
(FC3) but don't expect to be that comfortable with it
for a while yet.

Mike
