GPS disciplined oscillators are only about $300.00 to $400.00 ea.
on the used market today.... The HP Z3801a series have been appearing for
the last few years, retired from Cellular. 10 Mhz at about 1 Hz at a gHz or
better.....
Drive a "Flex Crystal" oscillator or better yet a synthesized
transmitter which can lock to 10 mhz and you can concentrate on the linking
parts.. It is not exactly beyond the scope of a club to do this. I have
thought about using 2 "Flex Crystals" locked to 10 mhz to generate the xtal
injection for VHF Mastr II PLL exciters for the TX side, I have not looked
at the modulator design, but it seems feasible.
For sure this could be done with Mastr III stations as they have
external 10 mhz capability in the first place, albeit not readily available
on the used market...yet...
Analog delay modules are/were made by Allen Avionics, and were
used in early days of simulcast. They can be found on Auction sites and
such places as well as some old paging stations....
I have been acquiring some parts to do this myself over time, just
need to get some free time to start putting it together....
