For DIY circuit boards I recommend a product called Press and Peel blue. It is a iron on transfer that you run through a laser printer to get the traces onto the PCB. But I havent had any luck using this method for double sided boards, but single side works fine. It still may be cheaper in the long run after buying the transfers, etch and board material plus a drill press to just go with a PCB service. I recommend ExpressPCB, which has free software but is a little on the pricey side or Advanced Circuits which has a 3 protoboards for $99 upto 60 square inches each, but you need software that will spit out a gerber file, I use Eagle 4.13 which has a free limited version.
