It's one of the software specific version daughter
boards replacing an address decoder and/or latch
decoder function.

I've seen these before in various RC-85 and RC-96
Controllers.

For a combination of reasons, you needed to add or
replace this board with software upgrades. The main
reason is a ingenious method to prevent firmware
piracy.

I've told the story many times... you wouldn't think
people would go to the trouble to copy ACC Repeater
Controllers... but they did. Over to a friends house
one time to see an entire assembly line of wire wrap
RC-85 Controllers along the side of his work shop.

time than free money.

cheers,

ps: I have most of the ACC RC-85 and a lot of the RC-96
firmware versions in archive. Email me direct if you
have specific questions.

I have posted two photos of the serial interface board found in some RC-96
controllers here: http://tinyurl.com/dst6n

I'd like to hear from anyone who has specific information about its
application and operation. Nothing is mentioned in the RC-96 manual.
Thanks!
