A friend of mine, way back before 911, took a rocket as a carry on.
Not a little hobby store rocket..
3" diameter carbon fiber tube about 10' long, that collapsed into
sections. He did bring the motor, although it wasn't fuled.
Him being him, he took it to the airport assembled of course...
They did let him on.
