I was talking about the ones in the modem.
The usual problem is that they cheap out on the iron, and the loop
current saturates the core, making it distort.
In general, you don't want DC current through audio transformers that
aren't specifically designed for it. You need to stay away from that
curved part at the ends of the B-H curve.
