Thanks for the confirmation Kevin.  I thought the information about the 
GR500 being a completely different animal than the GR300 was incorrect.

The GR500 cooling screamed at full speed regardless of heat.  I used to 
disconnect the fan so I could hear myself think while working on the 
GR500 on the bench!
