I've interfaced a Link Com Club Deluxe II to our Vertex 
VXR-5000.  It did not require any rewiring except for the verification of a 
Yaesu factory mod.  All interfacing was done via the DB-25 connector on the 
bottom panel.
 
One nice benefit of interfacing via the accessory connector is 
the VXR-5000 will revert to a stand-alone repeater when the DB-25 is unplugged 
if configured properly. (Details omitted for brevity.)

And yes, our VXR-5000 does not include a factory 
ID'er.
 
Lastly, the Pacific Research product really looks slick and it 
can't be beat for it's plug 'n play approach.  If it has all the features 
you need I'd vouch to say if Eric Lemmon is satisfied with it you couldn't 
go wrong.
