There are at least another 2 other types of plugs as well as 
the 2 Skipp listed.. A round Plug used on the EFJ 96xx series
and a flat square pin type.. The round pin also uses a couple
extra pins for programming firmware..

The number of plugs used on the portables seams to be endless.

The cable I use to prg. up my EFJ's is a Kenwood 6 pin Mobile
(max232 design) with a adapter that converts signal pins to the
proper EFJ Pin locations..  Here's a list of where each of the
pins are for each type of radio..

The 8 pin plug used on the EFJ 86xx series and 98xx series is
a special 8 pin RJ-12 which isn't avilable any where.. A RJ-45
will work, but you need to file about .035" off of each side..
It's not critical as the latch centers the plug..
