My RS35M supply schematic says it's an MCR225 SCR. I suspect that any SCR capable of dealing with the current rating of the supply will work just fine.
My schematic was dated Jan 2000 as well, and it came with a new supply that I bought around 2002. I suspect that all the component differences are due to product improvement (aka bug fixes in the original design). In this regard, they seem to have unique schematics for each model year (almost like Motorola). RM-series is the rack mount version of the RS-series. Add the letter "M" and you have meters. Change the first letter from R to V and you have one with front panel adjustment pots (V=variable). SS-series are switching power supplies. I don't recall if they come in rack-mount versions.
