Dear New Friends,
Well I have certainly gotten the message on the Web about Motorola's
RSS. All I want to know is does Motorola still sell the older RSS's
for like the Saber, part number RVN4002K? Thanks for your help. I
got all eleven of the Saber's working, and four Maxtrac base
stations that went along with the system around 450Mhz. I'm really
proud of myself! The radio system on the ships uses alot of Radiax
and Heliax antennas and was called the DCWIFCOM (Damage Control Wire
Free Communication system). Anyway the Saber's, four of them have a
range both send and receive of 1+ mile. The remaining seven have a
range of about a half mile both send and receive. I am guessing its
been about 15 or more years since the Saber's were tuned up using
the RSS. BTW one of the Maxtrac's was REALLY messed up, how someone
could blow so many components in one radio I have no idea? So the
RSS driven alignment and VCO tune up stuff would probably fix the
range problems? Another problem I have is I am working for a US
gov't contractor, we provide the tech support for all the US ships
through a Pentagon contract, the Pentagon and State Dept sold the
ships these radios are on to the Egyptian Navy about 15 years ago.
The radios came with the ships, whats the likelihood that the legal
RSS is somewhere on the ship, or was given by the US gov't to the
Egyptian Navy, any ideas on this? Seems logical they would have
turned the legal RSS's over with the ships, -----right???? Or if
you have a way to fix the Saber range problems without the RSS then
let me know.
