Tell you the "simple" thing that may have caused your problem...no
needle movement. My Bird 43 has a plastic round I call it, a
"figamajig". This device sits around the meter itself in the box. Mine
somehow got loose inside the meter cabinet and so, this "figamajig"
rests on the meter face/glass putting pressure on the needle and so
the needle does not move, no matter what power or slug is inserted
into the meter.

How I fix this problem? Two ways. First, open up the Bird and remove
this "figamajig". Get some crazy glue and glue this round device back
into its original position. Install the meter/glass and needle [one
assembly] back into the housing. Put the entire box back into its
original place [kinda hard to explain]. Secondly once the Bird is
reassembled....when you place the unit back into normal service DO NOT
place any object or your fingers onto the meter glass/face.

Doing so will again place the "figamajig" and meter glass back onto
the needle and causing it not to move again!! Man I wish I could
explain it better! Must be the new year's egg nog and brandy working
here.....

Good Luck!!...and **Happy New Year**.

I use my Bird 43 wattmeter frequently and, until today, it has
worked perfectly. Now, for some reason, there is no meter indication
when transmitting through it to either an antenna or dummy load.
