I've been told one way to lengthen the elements is to put a bolt 
through the middle of the bends (top & bottom) of each element. 
Aluminum bolts would be preferred.
Of course, this does nothing to improve the match, but it may be 
broad enough. Some experimentation would be in order...there's 
nothing to loose by trying.

BTW, it's NOT a J pole.
