Well I think it is the VPL-1 end as I had problems programming a VX-7000 repeater and it will also not work on a VX-900 radio.
I also have both the VX-4000 software and the field ver. but I can not get any response from the VX-4000 even when I have it in the PC mode . If you are trying to read a VX-4000FIELD radio with standard VX-4000 software it won't read it, you have to have VX4000FIELD software for those. Just a few thoughts.
