Motorola introduced the Station Access Module [SAM] as an option for the CXB MSF5000 stations. Programming capability for that option was incorporated into the MSF5000 RSS.
The SAM option was subsequently added to the Quantar station's capability, however, the Quantar RSS cannot program the SAM. There is a separate RSS for the Quantar SAM [RVN4110]. The Quantar SAM is a very capable module. It can accomplish such tasks as repeater setup and knockdown in response to decoding single tone, DTMF, or MDC control signals. It can also encode these formats. It is much more capable when its programming is coordinated with the Quantar's wildcard programming. It is a difficult option to master as there is little information available for it and it is somewhat rare, so there are few experts on its use.
