Brian, I acquired several Micor DVP (Digital Voice Protection) stations that were removed from Government service, and have some experience converting them to clear voice operation. The primary problem to confront is that the backplane and the station control module are different from the unencrypted Micor stations. A DVP station will have a TLN5979 backplane interconnect board, while a normal station uses a TLN5644 backplane. The DVP station control module (SCM) is a TLN5970, which will not work with the TLN5644 backplane. The normal Micor SCM is a TLN4635, which will not work with the TLN5979 backplane. The bottom line here is that you must use the proper SCM with the backplane you have installed in the station.
If you intend to control your Micor station with an aftermarket controller, you probably can make the appropriate connections to the backplane and do without the majority of the plug-in modules. Just be aware that the audio path is different between the DVP and non-DVP backplanes, so the jumpers will be different. The manual you need for your station is 6881036E40 which, unfortunately, is no longer available from Motorola. However, I have a virgin copy of that manual, and am in the process of scanning it into PDF for posting on the RBTIP site. There is already a wealth of information about converting a commercial-split Micor repeater to the 2m band, on the Repeater-Builder site. I am cross-posting this response on that list so that others can help you with the conversion. 73, Eric Lemmon WB6FLY -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2007 5:19 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Motorola-Micor] Looking for info on a Micor Special C73RXB Hi All, Brian here! I have picked up a Micor RT repeater, a model C73RXB3106BT, nothing special about it being a 100 watt VHF repeater except that it is a DVP, securenet repeater. Does anyone out there have any experience with this little bugger? The unit was up in the 160's so I'll field strip some of my 146 parts to get it down, but are there any pitfalls that I may be missing here..... Is it compatible with a plain old analog voice repeater? Thanks, Brian See everybody at Hara!
