This Happened Locally By Me I 'am surprised it Caused this much attention Here is a Copy of a Post I did Locally, I had Repeater Problems caused by Cable Interference.
Don KA9QJG Some Including the News media from what I have read and seen including NASA Stated They had No Idea Why the Video was being picked up on the Baby monitor, Well most of us on this group are Familiar With Cable TV Leakage, All You need to Know is the Brand and Freq of the Baby Sitter Monitor , well I checked it is A Summer Infant Black and White Monitor system. What Cable Co provider is used in Palatine Comcast WOW Etc ,. Then a Freq Chart of that and Match up what freq and Channel NASA is on and I think We will find out that it is coming from Cable leakage, But of course The cable Co dos Not want that info out Especially with all the old Cable Systems and Private Contractors doing the work cheaper, They get a Complaint of bad Reception Do they replace the line, No they add a Preamp and put a stronger signal into the House Customer is Happy but what about Leakage like this that gets into Pd, FD And all kinds of Scanner Freqs We are use to , I know I have a 440 repeater and the input is on a Cable Home Shopping channel, The interference kept kerchunking the Repeater , I the early hours of the Morning I had to get up and Shut it down, yes I had a Pl , I had Comcast and WOW Techs out both was blaming each other I Used a UHF Beam and found the leaking Amp, They both told me that they are required by the FCC to maintain a closed system and they were the Secondary user. And ask Me not to call the FCC, They had a crew out here and fixed it right away ,I understand that was rare, I did get a chance to View the Equipment in the Cable Vans Each one has a Receiver that is tuned to a VHF Aircraft Freq . Called a Pilot tone If they find that signal coming in breaking the Squelch they GPS It and have a Tech come out and Fix. Sorry for the long post but I thought Some might of wanted to know what this So called Mystery Might be I recall some post on the group about Someone using a 2.4 ghz Monitor receiver and riding around Seeing and hearing all kinds of Stuff same Principle Except RF in the Air not Cable.
