Sure, that's an attenuator, but directly reduces your receive sensitivity, db for db, as any loss before the first active element in the receiver does. To eliminate overload from a preamp, a pad of maybe 6-10db is added AFTER the preamp, where it does NOT reduce receive sensitivity, but only the overload. > <---Let's see..
