Hi Ken,

Nothing wrong with Angle Linear stuff... I use a lot of both brands.
But Chip Angle took a long time to come around to phempt (fet) preamps
for the vhf band and I didn't like him for a long time telling me (and
everyone else) we were full of $#%(* for wanting to use phempt preamps
in the vhf range. Now Chip sells vhf phempt preamps... go figure.

For many years my friend Tom H. brought the lastest and greatest
Agilent gain and Noise Figure Instrument to the VHF and above (Dayton
Hamvention) Dinner (held each year at the Holiday Inn). Many people
brought both homebrew and commercial preamplifiers to be measured. It
was a fairly rare chance for an average person to see exactly how a
specific preamplifier performed.

I went through two or three ARR preamplifiers I had bought used at the
flea market and one I had actually won in the dinner raffle. Every
used ARR Preamplifier we tested easily beat the printed noise figure
and gain spec listed by ARR. Quite impressive for a preamplifier
you would assume is cranked out en masse.

So I've been very satisfied with the ARR preamplifier products I
have in service and I know they are great performers.

I've also had great luck with Angle Linear products... and I use
them. My only major beef with Angle products is/are the long wait
for them to be constructed and arrive at my door.

I've even got a few Lunar, Dick Smith Electronics and some other
odd ball packages around here somewhere.

cheers,
skipp
