<----I remember many folks using banana reed decoder/encoders as far 
back as the early 70's (long before the IC-02AT by the way). I 
remember ComSpec's offerings that used everything from banana reeds 
to the more "normal" 'sponders and 'senders and even the infamous 
round beige "tone element" decks in the 70's as well.

All of these were used in the ham side of things.
