Tom, I also have had a good luck with the Kenwood TKR-750. It has back up power that is a good idea for ARES, RACES systems. I would buy another no issue. I had mine interfaced to an S-COM 7K so I could link up to another repeater. I used an Astron RSS-30M Rack Mount power supply.
Then you can use a VOCOM PA to get to 100 watts. VOCOM has a 25 watt in to 100 watt power amp that works great.
