Yeah, with that rule gone I'm surprised at how many repeater controllers still enforce it. I'd prefer longer hang-times for less transmitter cycling, really. Might as well leave it up for up to 30-60 seconds, as long as the controller is properly ID'ing it. Less thermal cycling (or at least a longer "up and down wave" with less "bumps")... less "shock" to the transistors in the PA... lots of things. For those that do commercial repeaters... any rules left in the commercial rules about transmitter hang times?
