You know what? I think my memory failed me for a bit-now that I think about it, it seems like the volume control is BEFORE the audio chip. so raw discriminator goes through the volume control first, then into the combination squelch/speaker amp chip. And it seemed also like the level at the volume control was too low for either the voter or the 7K controller. -- Jim Barbour WD8CHL
