Hi Rob, As you're probably finding out by all the other posts... the Kenwood Repeaters do have a nice internal repeater controller. If you want more features as often found in after-market external Amateur Radio Repeater Controllers... there are probably 5 to 15 Companies making them for the Amateur Radio Market. Even more controllers if you want to count-in the Commercial Radio Market. You can easily use the internal "built-in" controller and we can even give you a lot of 50 cent opinions about all the available after market (controller) units. cheers, skipp
