You can also split the tones with most commercial repeaters, I assume the Quantar is included... but most hams are utterly confused by this, since most ham rigs won't do it. (I know of only two or three that will.) The repeater will still have the problem that the receiver is hearing the transmitter (not really desense in the classic sense, but same result... lower performance on receive)... but it at least won't key itself.
