I'm working on a project that requires a lightweight UHF repeater for an airborne platform, capable of working in the 250-450MHz range. Right now, the best I can put together is a dual Thales MBITR platform with filters and a oversized duplexer. Alternatively, I can space the payload apart the entire 10ft of the retransmission cable, thus eliminating the need for filters. By using antennas on both radios, I can eliminate the duplexer.
1. Are small low-power (5W max) duplexers available in suitable frequency ranges? 2. The MBITR is overkill (functionality wise) for this application. Are there commercially available repeaters available in this form-factor? If not, are there companies that could easily engineer and produce one? Anyone have any input? - Andrew
