Doesn't appear that way... I wasn't very nice with my statement 
of "public safety empire builder attitude" but it along with a 
lot of misinformation seems (in this example) to be the root cause.  

Trunking comes in many flavors... and traditional analog audio 
trunking sound great/clear and the user audio doesn't sound 
like it's been run through a guitar pedal effect. LTR Trunking 
is one such example of typical good FM communications audio 
without the cell phone flange sound.

Yeah, but keep in mind digitized audio is not tied to trunking 
system operation.

Yep... I was not sold on Icom's new 6.25 system when I visited 
their booth at the IWCE system. Forget the audio quality for a 
moment and think about the actual gross time delay through 
the system and it's a no-go for most of my commercial users.
