You are giving the port a valid input so it's actually looking for DTMF, 
correct?  Otherwise, depending on the logic used in the RC-210 it may not 
even look for DTMF.  Unless the firmware has changed significantly in the 
past 4 years, the RC-210 needs some sort of logic input on a port (COS or 
CTCSS) in order to watch for DTMF on that port.  So if you're just feeding 
DTMF straight into a port, it needs to be active in order to respond to the 
DTMF.
