At VHF it works "ok"... at UHF, not so easy...

Relative rude cable length increases will give you an indication 
of where things are hopefully going. 

One should expect the cable to be longer and after a bit of 
experience you get a sense of how much cable lengths are increased 
for the classic 10 to 20 MHz shift down of a typical UHF duplexer. 

Never say never... sometimes a cable length can be shorter than 
the initial (starting) length when you switch from a 3/4 wave 
jumper to the shorter 1/4 wave jumper.
