1) yes, to everyone that suggested, UHF would be better and simpler in this
situation! Back to the original post! I DO NOT have any spare UHF units
laying around, and no budget to purchase any! The goal was to try and come up
with a solution with the parts that I have on hand!
2) 900 mhz - Not even reality here! I doubt we could acquire HT's or portables
to match the repeater! Most of, if not all of our volunteers have dual band
units! VHF/UHF
3) I DO NOT have a GE MVP and no access to anyone that does! Also again, no
budget to purchase one, even if one were to make itself available!
If anyone has one of these laying around, that they would like to donate to the
cause, I sure would be willing to pay the shipping! Thanks!
4) For the individual that posted this, "Don't bother with those radios. Very
poor receive isolation on the hand
held (it's a made-for-ham handhled, it WILL be bad!), dirty transmitter
(again, made-for-ham, it WILL be bad!)"
Yea, so you have something against HAM radio! I would think that is what most
of us on this list do!
And as for the rest of your post!!! I am not a total idiot, or ignorant of
Amateur equipment! So with that said, take your talking down and know it all
attitude and chime in on someone elses thread!
Do you have some UHF equipment you care to donate?
5) Thank you to Robert P. for bringing the attention back to the original
question, instead of the wanna be regulators hijacking my thread!
6) Thank you to the few that offered some viable solutions with the equipment
that I have on hand! They were few, but the learning process that I was
looking for! Not someone trying to tell me how to spend money on equipment I
do not have!
7) I DO NOT live in California - and do not care what regs they have there, not
my back yard, not what I am looking for!
8) To the list owner! I cannot/will not apologize for others! But my posted
question had nothing to do with regs/rules etc! It was looking for a solution
to a problem with equipment on hand! Please punish those that got off topic,
and not me for looking for a solution and education! I could only conclude,
that you yourself did not go back and read the original post in the topic! But
on the other hand, it is good to see that someone is on top of the forum rules
and willing to do something about it!
9) IF it comes down to it, we could use the same set-up we had last year!
Although, I believe a viable solution may be in the works, thanks to W5DK!
Thank you to all that attempted to help!
BTW - If anyone has one of those MVP's just laying around, I would be glad to
make a good and useful home for it!
