20 has 7 Z-steps per 10 ft, 13.25" (iirc) face width (including pipes) and (again, iirc) 18 gauge pipe
25 has 9 Z-steps per 10 ft and 16 gauge pipe (again, iirc) 45 is about 19" wide w/ pipes. I believe 55 is slightly heavier built (fatter Z-legs, thicker pipe) 45, but the same physical size otherwise. 65 is larger (23 inches?) Either way, I'll be able to put my hands on one of the last revisions of the Rohn books tonight. Feel free to email me and I'll send you (or post the files to the group) the physical description pages for the different products. Now, theres lots of "clone" 25 and 45 towers out there. The 25 at my house is "Nello 25N". Looks identical to Rohn 25 to me, except for the lower quality welding between the Z legs and pipe. I saw some Canadian-built 25 that was *beautiful* (clean welds, smooth galvanizing) by comparison to my Nello sticks. I believe the company name was "Fairchild" (whatever Wil-tronics in Tyler, TX was selling about 2 years ago) Good luck, Jacob Suter > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:Repeater- > [email protected]] On Behalf Of Kris Kirby > Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2009 3:13 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [Repeater-Builder] Tower Identification > > > How can I identify an otherwise unknown tower as Rohn 20, 25, 45, etc. > or even another tower manufacturer altogether? > > I'm printing off the Rohn 25, 45, and 55 section details, but beyond > those drawings, I've no other clues to ID the tower. > > -- > Kris Kirby, KE4AHR <[email protected]> > But remember, with no superpowers comes no responsibility. > --rly > > ------------------------------------ > > > > Yahoo!
