Hi Norm,

I'm also a Kenwood Dealer but aside from the resources of the
KPG-59d software most people need two (2) other items besides the
proper test gear.

The first is Pete's conversion program mentioned below. The
second is a modification to the original kpg-59d software that
allows you to align the radio out of band. The modified kpg-59x
program out on the web has a fairly serious bug causing it
and the radio to lock up (freeze) in at least one critical
proceedure. If you're not equipped with replacement firmware
and a programming template then you could obtain those items
before you start the modification journey.

Make copies of all the current firmware and programming
templates and put them away in your archives.

Pete's program does the frequency conversion but the radio will
need to be realigned with test equipment.

After all the work... I have the radio working on both 29.6 up
through 54 MHz. I did average the power output across the band,
which gave me a clean relatively flat 45 watts and cool PA
operation.

Just a killer radio for the cause (29.5 to 54MHz of the entire
vhf low band) ... and once again many thanks to Pete for his
conversion utilities ... he also gets a Braut/Brat from me at
Dayton this year. Hold the mayo...

cheers,
skipp

advise and abuse.
