Ok, here's the update.

I removed a single turn from each coil and replaced.

I got more "mesh" but no real increase in sensitivity.

So, I went back over the tuning instructions and looked for bottomed out
slugs.

I replaced the disc caps next to L404, L502, L503 with 7pf values. (what I
had on hand).

Yup, that made the difference.
Breaks squelch around .1 now.

Very nice.
