One of the guys here had written some C code that runs on a PC that you could use.. think you plug the RX audio into the sound card. If you want, I can dig up the e-mail. I think I saved it.
A hardware solution would be to get one of the Motorola desktop MDC units. They have a LED display on it. Don't know the model #, but could probably find on e-bay.
