I have done it both ways, swapped a mobile into the base hardware and
bent/bolted the 220 to the shield or cage, also have wired the TO-3 to the
mobile amp board. No failures yet. Might not be proper or perfect but it
works.

Subject: [Repeater-Builder] Mastr-II, pass transistor in power control
circuit

T%his is in reference to the pass transistor in the M-II PA power control
circuit, (sometimes identified a Q 215).. In the mobile units this
transistor is the TO-220 type. In the continuous duty station transmitters
it is a TO-3 type. My questions are if you put a mobile transmitter board in
the station heat sink assemble will the TO-220 transistor be ok with
continuous duty operation?? Also,is the power control circuit the same in
the mobile and station transmitters, so that you could remove the TO 220 and
wire in a TO 3. Thanks. Sid.
