Someone else pointed out a simplex repeater. Just plug into a handheld placed on a hill or high building. It is a bit annoying to hear it repeat everytime, but for this type of emergency it could work. Please disregard my call for help. As several of you pointed out the FRS/GMRS handhelds are simplex so a repeater is of no use. Thanks to those that responded John, K4AG
