Hi Kurtis, thanks for your summary of the situation and the pointers to the relevant quotes. Although this is probably off-topic for this list and better discussed on FSFE's Android list [1], I wonder why you want to pursue the idea of getting one whitelisted Signal server for "us". Do you know the reasons for the mechanism of white-listing? Wouldn't it be better if the fork would eventually be merged with upstream again, allowing the official Signal to work without Google Play Services?
