Hi, I asked a question back in 2015 on this list regarding backing up before upgrading/installation.

The responses were very helpful, and may be useful to you.

Thank you Joonas.

I really would like to help but since I identified what was missing, I thought
I could help this way, waiting to do more.
I am not enough skilled with replicant/android to write a doc since I do not
have the answers I would need. I could help with the documentation if I had
some links (see https://redmine.replicant.us/boards/33/topics/14851).

Currently, I have searched for some solution to keep SMS/MMS when upgrading
from Replicant 4.2 to 6 (see
https://redmine.replicant.us/boards/9/topics/14315) without any real success.

For those who want to keep SMS/MMS when changing their iPhone to Replicant 4.2,
I documented the steps (https://redmine.replicant.us/boards/21/topics/9543).

PS : I received today my first mail, but since I am triple checked and I am
sure it was not received before, it should have been lost somewhere but it is
now solved.

Hey!

This is definitely the right place for such discussion. Do you want to

come up with a draft wiki page for such instructions and send it then to

this list? I think they could be useful to some people, and the backing

up of ROM also to the developers!

About the email: Go to

https://lists.osuosl.org/mailman/listinfo/replicant and check if you

have some setting enabled for not sending your own emails to you.

Thanks for the good idea!

Fil Lupin:

Hi,

perhaps my question is not pertinent or should be asked elsewhere, if so, where
should I ask ? I also tried on the forum
(https://redmine.replicant.us/boards/3/topics/14859).

Thanks,

- Fil Lupin.

PS : I did not receive my former mail from the mailing list, is it normal?

Hi,

sorry if my question already has an answer in the mailing archive, I did not
finish to read all the archive, and I did not find any answer on the website.

Before installation of Replicant, some steps can be followed to better prepare
installation:

- save data :

- pictures

- music

- MMS (with attached parts)/SMS (some answers available for iPhone at
https://redmine.replicant.us/boards/21/topics/9543 and for android at
https://redmine.replicant.us/boards/9/topics/14315?r=14707)

- other files

- save ROM, especially critic parts (EFS, including MAC address and IMEI)

It could be interesting to give some tips, precisions, howto, links to doc,
etc. to help newcomers to prepare installation through these steps.

If this is already available, please let me know where I could find this.

If not, do you see any other things?

Thank you.

- Fil Lupin.
