That partition is may be called userdata, media, or something like that. Files on such partition and are probably not erased when unlocking the bootloader and are not meant to be erased when installing Replicant. > - MMS (with attached parts)/SMS (some answers available for iPhone > at https://redmine.replicant.us/boards/21/topics/9543 and for > android at > https://redmine.replicant.us/boards/9/topics/14315?r=14707) Theses are typically erased in the case mentioned above as they are on the applications data partition (often called data). > - other files > > - save ROM, especially critic parts (EFS, including MAC address and > IMEI) Since Replicant's samsung-ril and libsamsung-ipc implementations are not complete, saving the EFS is a very good idea. I saw several devices with an EFS corrupted by Replicant where the proprietary implementations were able to recreate or repair an EFS if it is corrupted. > It could be interesting to give some tips, precisions, howto, links > to doc, etc. to help newcomers to prepare installation through > these steps. I think it would be very interesting to add some information about that on a dedicated page in the wiki as it will most probably be very useful for many reasons: - Users could more easily switch to Replicant - Users could more easily upgrade between Replicant version without loosing all the data. For instance some applications might have some specific procedure to be able to backup and restore their data. For instance it's not trivial to export and import data from silence between different Replicant version. Denis.
