The retrieval process is more fiddly and it's not standardised across different 
deb-based distributions. You might also want the output to be more structured 
than just one long build log - for example binutils splits up the results by 
architecture.

The maintainer clearly thought it was more convenient to bundle the test 
results in the binary package, than to look them up on the buildd web interface 
- so just saying "don't do it" isn't a very user-friendly approach.
