Well, it seems that I had spoke too soon about my freeze problems going away. It returned with a venegance last week and early this week. Then on Tuesday, one of the Apple bug engineers on the ASIP list suggested removing the FBC (Find by Content) extensions and see if that didn't improve stability in reference to another poster's problems with ASIP 6.3/MacOS9.
