Hi Helen, We recommend using our post-review command line tool for posting review requests. It takes care of the base path for you, and will also work around various other issues with Subversion diffs.
As for the base path question, that would depend entirely on what the paths look like inside the diff. I'd take a look at that and see what prefix is missing. That's your base path.
